DIY: Adorable Scarf
This scarf is adorable!!! I love the mustard yellow color for fall and the delicate pattern is so gorgeous. Here is the free knitting pattern if you dare! I think I'll run this one by Stella (Danny's Mama/ my future Mama in-law) to see if she can give me a few pointers. Stella is a phenomenal knitter! Hopefully I'll be able to figure it out with her help. Wish me luck! And I wish you luck too!

DIY: Fab Filing Cabinet's
Vans Shoe Art
I love art! Every now and then I will "Sharpie" a pair of shoes for my friends. My latest pair was requested by Ryan, the photographer of our engagement pictures. Ryan Longnecker runs a company called Equals D Photography. He wanted "photography themed" vans with earthy colors. Here I am coffee staining the background to achieve a vintage photography look.
Here are some other shoes that I have created.
DIY: Flying Lantern
1) Pin four sheets of tissue paper to a clothesline and spray with fireproofing product, avoiding the corners where the pins are. Allow the paper to dry.
4) Using the craft pattern as a guide, cut the tissue paper, making four slightly curved pieces with one straight edge. Glue the lantern pieces together, leaving the straight edge open, creating the bottom of the lantern. You will want to make sure that your glue has dried before moving onto the next step.
5) Make a bamboo hoop. Split the bamboo into thin strips, carefully moving a knife slowly down the length of the pole. Once you find a pliable piece, sand it until it is smooth. Form a hoop with the bamboo strip and secure the ends with glue. * If you don't have bamboo strips handy, you can use any light weight, bio-degradable hoop you can find.
6) Install a wire "X" onto the frame; secure in place with staples. Cover the cardboard square with foil and secure it to the center of the "X" with tape, staples or glue.
7) Make a foil cup, large enough to hold your fuel (step 9). Tape this to the center of the pad.
8) Attach the tissue paper to the hoop at the open bottom with tape, staples or glue--remember, it works like a hot-air balloon, so the foil cup should face the inside.
9) Making Lantern Burner
Buy some blue industrial paper-towels (the thick kind), and saturate the towel in melted canning-wax.
Warning: Canning (paraffin) wax is very flammable, and should only be melted over low heat in a double boiler. It should never be exposed to open flames or high heat.
10) When your balloon is dry and ready to fly (fix all tears and cracks), place your treated paper towel into the foil cup and light it on fire. You may need a friend to help level the balloon while it fills up with hot air. When the sides are hot and you can feel the lantern pulling away, release it.
Don't forget to make a wish!

DIY: Photo Runner For Your Table
Wouldn't this be a cute idea for a party? I'm thinking something along the lines of an anniversary party, small wedding or family reunion. Print out pictures on your computer and stitch, tape or glue them together to make a runner for your table.
It would be a fun conversation starter too!
DIY: Make Your Own Chalkboard Paint
3 teaspoons acrylic paint (color of choice)
1 1/2 teaspoons glazing medium (water based)
1/2 teaspoon powder tile grout (Not Sanded)

Lanterns add pizazz to parties, dinners, shindigs etc. Here are some fun DIY lanterns that will jazz up any special event.

Cocktail Umbrella Lantern
Illuminate your outdoor soiree with a saucy summer lantern made from cocktail umbrellas.
Doily Tree Flowers
These are dainty and adorable. You can use a strand of Christmas tree lights! Wrap small paper doilies around the base of the each light. Secure with clear tape.
Fabric Makeover Lamp
Find your favorite fabric and cut the length and width of the lampshade circumference. Sew the fabric ends together and pull it over your lampshade. Vuala.
Tin Can Lanterns
Draw dot designs with a washable marker and then poke holes in the tin with a nail and hammer. Hang with a wire and place a candle inside. Simple and cute.
Pearl Lamp
Ooh la la, this is so pretty. You will need a wire cage and wire pearl strands.These pearl strands can be found at craft stores like Michael's in the flower or wedding section. Simply twist the pearls between the slats on the cage and hang you lantern with a metal chain and hook.
Tissue Pendant Lamps
These are fun looking! I would make these the same way as the cocktail umbrella lantern -- A paper lantern, glue and tissue paper. I've also seen these decorated with newspaper circles and thin book pages. Fun stuff.
Lace Lantern
BEAUTIFUL! This one takes a bit longer, but the finished product is magnificent. You will need lace doilies, a large balloon (found at party supply stores), string, wood or wall glue, a brush and a light with an extension cord.
1. Blow up your balloon to the desired size of your lamp and hang it from a string
2. Soak all of your lace doilies in glue and place them on your balloon. Make sure that the doilies overlap -- this will give your lamp more support
3. Once all of your doilies have been placed on the balloon, take you brush and coat the lamp once more.
4. Let the lamp dry for 24 hours or until the glue is hard.
5. Pop your balloon and carefully peal it away from the inside of the lamp.
6. Attach your light bulb and extension cord and secure it to the inside of the lamp...

I love this idea! You’ll need a cheap metal tray, some chalkboard paint and a cute bow. I’m diggin this cute burlap bow.
#7. Convenient Curling Iron Storage
Ok, if you’re like me, you reach for one of your irons and pull out a big tangled mess of cords. Don’t waste your time untangling cords ever again! I stumbled across this great DIY project. The tubes are pvc pipes and they are fastened with sticky velcro! Genius!

I’m not gonna lie…this looks like it will take some mad sewing skills, but I was very impressed with this transformation and thought I should share it with you! Too cute!
